'Carolina Midnight’ is a special Chinese fringe flower selection that was bred by our good friend, Ted Stephens of Nurseries Caroliniana. The foliage is a good deep burgundy red while the tassel blooms are a vibrant strawberry red. While many use this selection as a hedged foundational shrub, ‘Carolina Midnight’ will make nice upright tree reaching 10-12 ft in height in 10 years. More mature trees show exceptional exfoliating bark interest as well. ‘Carolina Midnight’ can be used as an evergreen privacy screen or as a focal point planting.
